The second edition of .Astronomy will be hosted at the Lorentz Center in Leiden, The Netherlands, from 30 Novermber to 4 December ‘09. Co-located with the world-class departments of Phsyics and Astronomy of the University of Leiden, the Center supports and hosts collaborative workshops in the sciences. Its layout and facilities are ideally suited to hands-on collaborations, discussion sessions, formal talks and socialising. Every participant will have access to personal desk space, convenient and efficient wireless internet access. For the true Dutch experience, the Center can also provide participants with a bicycle for the duration of the workshop. Details of the LC facilities can be found here.

Spaces will be limited to around 45, so if you’re interested in taking part, let us know as early as possible so we can keep you updated on the registration process and timeline.

Leiden is a lively university town (pop. 120,000)in the South of  The Netherlands with a relaxed atmosphere a vibrant nightlife. It is conveniently located at just 20 minutes from Schiphol Airport and 30 minutes from Amsterdam, the ideal base for exploring the regional delights: the Dutch coastline and the Polders, the cities of Amsterdam, Den Haag, Delft or Alkmaar. Across the border in Belgium, Antwerp, Brugge and Brussels are also within easy reach for a 1- or 2-day visit.
